Mid June - Early August Advanced Training and Development Objectives Instructional Camp June Three Practices per week schedule 14-16 Game "Booster" Schedule
The All Baseball, Inc.'s summer program has been evolving into longer term relationships
with players, parents, and coaches. Initial involvement with youth players in the form of summer camps and private
lessons only identified the necessity of developing more comprehensive efforts.
Those efforts now include
the instruction of players, team building, and the establishment of an appropriate schedule of games to monitor
and enhance development. Solving the dilemma of high school age players who do not participate on summer travel teams
is a tremendous challenge. Competitive selection, cost, and logistical difficulties begin closing the market for players
who remain dedicated yet without proper connections to the more select teams.
We have been helping
players by forming summer teams and fall programs since 2003 to address the needs of youth players. Now we must grow
into a new phase to help those players who have grown with us.
FALL BASEBALL
2010 brought the fifth
season of fall instructional offerings for the All Baseball, Inc. program. The activity has evolved into
a very quiet 8-12 game schedule for a limited group of players and teams.
Registration is purposefully controlled
to ensure attractive scheduling for players, parents, and coaches who are already busy but know that baseball
doesn't end in July. An attempt is made to find 4 teams per prospective age division to allow the most attractive
Sunday only scheduling. We have utilized Andover's 13th St. Sports Park extensively in the past. However, the
use of additional fields has been dependent upon any team's access to other appropriate facilities.
One of the hallmarks of the program is the flexibility to enter additional teams into the schedule as necessary. This
allows a better variety of opponents and challenges players to reach new levels by mixing ages and competitive
experience.
Two formats have worked satisfactorily in the past. In a three team arrangement, one team is
scheduled a double-header with the other two teams playing single games. In a six week schedule each team will receive
9 games, three double-headers and three single games. Game times are at 2:00 and 4:00pm.
A four team schedule
requires game times of 1:00, 3:00, and 5:00pm. Two teams play double-headers and two teams play single games each
week. This schedule also consists of nine games, but opponent variety is increased.
The league
is designed to allow players an opportunity to strengthen knowledge of a primary position, begin an understanding of
secondary positions, and comprehend more extensive game situations. A legitimate competitive feel is
maintained by employing two umpires.
This effort is intended to be an instruction and development
league which succeeds in attracting players and coaches of similar purpose and perspectives. Now is the time to begin
organizing.
